Established under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at ITU in September 2024, ITU Randiman Team designs and manufactures 4x4 off-road vehicles. The team is the first student team in Turkey to produce off-road vehicles and participates in the Baja SAE competitions organized by SAE International. As the first and only Turkish team to join this 50-year-old competition, Randiman continues its work with the vision of creating efficient vehicles, as the name suggests (Randıman means efficiency in Turkish).

Setting out with the goal of being a pioneer at ITU, the team mainly consists of mechanical engineering students but also provides an interdisciplinary working environment by having members from almost every faculty. The team stands out not only by producing vehicles but also with its projects and social spirit.

It has been entitled to support for 3 projects within the scope of TUBITAK 2209-B Industry-Oriented Research Projects Support Program. Out of 29 projects from ITU that were awarded support in 2024, 3 belong to the team. In addition to TUBITAK projects, the team has also applied for 4 projects to ITU's undergraduate research program called LOKAP.

To strengthen the team spirit, internal social activities are also organized: Baja Troia watching event in Çanakkale, barbecue in Belgrad Forest, cycling tour at Ayazağa Campus, basketball, football, and volleyball matches, board game days, theater visits, and many more cultural, sports, and fun activities are held together.

• Mechanical Team

  Mechanical team is responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and production of the vehicle. It is divided into three sub-teams: chassis, vehicle dynamics, and power transmission:

  • Chassis Team: Designs and manufactures the most optimal and lightweight chassis according to the requirements of vehicle dynamics and power transmission systems.
  • Vehicle Dynamics Team: Deals with the vehicle's moving parts and is responsible for driving quality and stability.
  • Power Transmission Team: Responsible for transmitting the movement generated by the vehicle's engine to the wheels under appropriate conditions.
• Electronics and Software Team

  Responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of electronic safety and performance elements that will work in sync with the mechanical parts of the vehicle.

• Organization Team

  Responsible for the team's promotion, management of social media accounts, and also planning and execution of sponsorship activities. The team is divided into PR and sponsorship sub-teams.
