ITU Facilis Automobile Team was established in 2011 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atakan Altınkaynak within the ITU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The team participated in Shell Eco-Marathon with three different electric vehicles and has been representing its country and school with its "Macaw" series vehicles in the internal combustion prototype category since 2016.
Our mission, in line with the Latin meaning of "Facilis," is to facilitate access to transportation technologies for humanity.
In the future, ITU Facilis aims to improve its score further and aims to be in the top three in the European competition and participate in the World Championship.
ITU Facilis Automobile Team has been participating in Shell Eco-marathon since 2012. The team has been preparing for the competition in the internal combustion prototype category since 2015, previously participating in the electric urban concept category.
With our prototype petrol vehicle named Macaw, we achieved a mileage of 171 km/l in Rotterdam in the year it was built.
With our vehicle Macaw, we achieved a mileage of 181 km/l in Europe and 300 km/l in Turkey in the competition we participated in.
Our vehicle Macaw received the Turkey Innovation Award thanks to the conversion of its chassis system to a semi-monocoque body system.
Our vehicle Macaw2, produced in 2018, achieved a mileage of 310 km/l in the London competition.
Our vehicle Macaw2 achieved a mileage of 378 km/l in the France competition.
