Soğanlı, Türkiye http://doi.org/10.1002/jqs.3660 The article co-authored by Dr. Adem Candaş, investigates the remnants of Late Quaternary glaciation on Mount Soğanlı, located in the interior regions of Türkiye. Using cosmogenic 36Cl surface exposure dating and numerical ice-flow modelling, the study provides detailed insights into glacier retreat phases and past climatic conditions in the region.

2025-1 Ömer Ekim Genel, Hilal Koç, Ekrem Tüfekci In-Plane Static Analysis of Curved Nanobeams Using Exact-Solution-Based Finite Element Formulation https://doi.org/10.32604/cmc.2025.060111 This study presents a new two-noded curved finite element for analyzing the in-plane static behaviors of curved nanobeams. Opposite to traditional curved finite elements developed by using approximate interpolation functions, the proposed curved finite element is developed by using exact analytical solutions.
2025-1 Mithat Can Özin, Bilsay Sümer, İlker Murat Koç Multiobjective Pareto Optimality of a Cross-Beam Six Axis Force/Moment Sensor With Genetic Algorithm and Approximate Analytical Model 10.1109/JSEN.2025.3544965 Six-axis force/moment sensor technology currently lacks an extensive, fast, and accurate size optimization methodology in common sensor diameters that can check sensor body strain output, size, safety, and vibration response for designing custom sensors. This study utilizes a new analytical model for optimization of a cross-beam sensor that has higher accuracy in an extensive sensor dimension range and respects design safety and vibration frequency. The new optimization problem formulation aims to maximize strain outputs and minimize sensor diameter.
2025-1 Caglar Sahin, Seyhan Uygur Onbasioglu Experimental and numerical investigation of suction muffler outlet pipe geometry effect on volumetric efficiency and COP https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijrefrig.2025.02.001. International Journal of Refrigeration This study investigates how the design of the muffler outlet pipe and the compressor speed affect the volumetric efficiency and COP using both experimental and numerical methods. Three distinct muffler outlet pipe designs, characterized by varying lengths and diameters, are tested across four different compressor speeds using R600a refrigerant. A numerical model is developed using the GT-SUITE™ platform and subsequently validated against the experimental results.
2025-1 Volkan Bekir Yangın, Yaprak Yalçın, Özgen Akalın A tunable explicit nonlinear MPC for a vehicle considering improved path tracking performance and computational efficiency http://doi.org/10.1007/s12206-025-0446-4 In this paper, a novel tunable explicit nonlinear MPC (E-NMPC), which provides satisfactory path-following performance and computational efficiency is proposed for a vehicle in the NATO double lane change maneuver. The proposed controller is based on an artificial neural network (ANN), which is a useful tool to model complex systems. The control law is generated offline to reduce the computational burden.
2025-1 Başar Zaman, Volkan Bekir Yangın, Özgen Akalın ANN-Based PID Tuning Mechanism for a Vehicle Control System Considering Improved Path Following Conference Paper (4. Uluslararası Lisansüstü Araştırmalar Sempozyumu (IGRS'25)) The objective of this study is to compare vehicle path tracking performance by using PID control strategy based on ANN tuning with the path tracking accuracy of the PID control strategy where the controller gains are tuned based on Ziegler-Nichols method. PID controller creates differential brake forces to follow the reference trajectory as a back-up for the steering system in case of failure. The proposed methodology is validated through a Simulink-ADAMS co-simulation, where a test vehicle performs a NATO Double Lane Change (DLC) maneuver using differential braking for steering redundancy.
